London, Oxford, Carboot, Bicester Village - Day 11,12 of May 28,29

We left the hotel to London by 10am. Parked the car at Dollis Hill train station and bought a one day ticket for London Underground which includes services for the train & bus services. The ticket for the 4 of us cost 30 pound.

London transport services

The ticket is valid for one day travel within Zone 3. There are more than 17 different train services serving London as shown in the map below unlike 3 train service in Kuala Lumpur. Knowing to read the chart is important in order to switch train to get to the different places.

London double-decker bus
Can also jump onto the double-decker bus using the same ticket to move around. Since most part of the train route is underground, it is preferably advisable to take the bus to see more things especially for a first timer visiting London. However, it is much faster to take the train.

London train travel chart
We took the train to Portobello Road antique market at Notting Hill Station. There is a movie called Notting Hill starred Hugh Grant & Julia Roberts. Much of the filming took place on Portabello Road. Here, they do sell other kind of stuffs ranging from food, clothes ...etc

Portobello Road
After getting some souvenoirs, we walked to Shahrul's house. Sharul work with the Malaysia Student Department. His house is 5 minutes walk to Bayswater Underground Station. Shahrul wife had asked us to buy Malaysian food for their food stock. We had brought packets of instant kurma, a curry and rendang.

After leaving the heavy stuffs behind, we tour the city taking the underround train and the bus. We visited Big Ben clock tower, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Harrods and walk along Oxford Road shopping area.

After a tiring day, we returned back to Shahrul house 5 minutes walk to Bayswater Underground Station. We had dinner at his place. They served rice with beef soup, fried mackeral, fried prawn and sambal. This is real food ever since we arrived in UK 10 days ago. We had to quickly pack up since Wembley Stadium hosted champion league showdown between MU and Barcelona and we do not want to be caught up in the traffic jam.

Arrived at Travelodge Buckingham 11.45pm. The hotel is close to Bicester Village Outlet. We woke up at 6am the next morning ready to bargain at some Car boot sales that I had identified over the internet. They usually start at 8am. The first one we got to, had good bargain. We bought a travelling bag, tea towels, toys, watches etc. Most of them were between 25 pence and 5 pound.

Kasam Stadium Oxford Carboot Sale, Oxford
We proceed to the second carboot at Peach Farm Oxford. Here we found more stuffs to buy. We finally ended our carboot spree at Kasam Stadium carboot. However over here, there are too many traders.

On the way to the hotel, we stop by at Bicester Village Outlet.

We get back to the hotel early to pack our stuffs ready to return to home sweet home.
