How to apply for a UK Student Visa (Tier 4) from Malaysia

Process good as Dec 2013. Process may change due to the University and UK Visas policy.

The process depends to which University in the UK ones are applying for.
The sample given below are for University of West England (UWE).

Make enquiries with the various student agency in Kuala Lumpur. Information and assistance will be given free of charge by these agencies. Once you have decide which university to enroll to,

1. .Furnish all the documentation to the university via emails. They include SPM result, diploma transcript, reference letter, personal statement.

2. Offer Letter issued by UWE. A conditional letter will be offered by the university if documents submitted as per item 1 above were insufficient. Else unconditional offer letter will be given. The letter will mention duration  taken for the degree programme plus other requirement such as visas and financial advisories.

3. Accept the offer by posting and emailing back to the university

4. UWE will create ID for the university website for future communication. ID and password shall be retrieved from the student agency.

5. You are required to deposit payment to the university based on the amount advised in the website. Payment can be made using bank transfer or credit card. Credit card payment can be made via UWE payment website.

6. Make payment on the payment website given by the UWE

7. Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) issued. CAS is required for the application of student Visas to the UK.

8. TB screening test from 2 private clinics. One at Jalan Ampang (RM180 result after 3 days)and the other close to Bangsar South (RM210 same day result).
Note: Unlike the recent years, students from Malaysia are not required to furnish financial statement for their Visa application. Please refer to this website

9. Online Visa Application. Fill-up as much as possible. For those which you are uncertain with, meet-up with your student agency for their assistance. Once confirmed, make payment (US492 also on the same website). Once completed, print and signed. Make online appointment to submit the printed copy to the Visa Department at Bangunan MCA Jalan Ampang. Make sure to bring the relevant document namely photo of the right size, passport (old and new which you had previously travelled with), CAS document, other supporting documents.

10. Make flight reservation.


Note that the time taken from getting admission to issuing of visas may take 25 - 30 working days.
