Jakarta & Bandung

We were on a family holiday middle of December. Since the elder children had started working, only the two younger ones joined us for the Jakarta Bandung trip. We were planning to visit our eldest child who works in Jakarta. However, in the last minute, he had to undergo office training in Xian China for 2 weeks. We left KL on KLM Dutch airlines.
The first 3 days we put up with Fakhrol (Zilla the wife), a relative of mine working Jakarta. The family stayed in Lebak Bulus close to Pondok Indah. The trip took us hour and half even though it was only 20km away. Fakhrol had been working in Jakarta for the last 7 years. Their 4 children goes to the local private school.



The next day, Fakhrol let us use his car and driver to do shopping in Tebet and Kuningan.

The following day Friday, we went to Pasar Puring to shop for leather goods and textile in Mayestik. On the way back, we stop by Gandaria Mall and Pondok Indah Mall, one of the many new malls in Jakarta.

The next day Saturday we went to one of the many outlet close to Lebak Bulus. In the evening, we take a dip in the family swimming pool.

Saturday morning, we pack for Bandung.Stayed at Garden Permata Hotel. We had an adjoining room on the 3rd Floor with breakfast for 4 of us.

 After checking in, we went to Paris Van Java Mall for the evening walk. Bought some food for supper.
We had dinner at Sangkuriang Restaurant.
The next day we went shopping at the many outlet. Jalan Chihamplus offered good bargain. For every amount spent, vouchers valued with the same amount were issued and could be spent at Wanted Outlet. Also stop by at Rumah Mode. The crowd was heavy so we moved elsewhere.

By night we went to Kampung Daun for dinner. We opt to sit in one of the small hut for 4 people. Kampung Daun lies in the mountain slope surrounded by farms and houses. The village is constructed with stones hills and waterfalls forming the backdrop. The small hut are surrounded with shrubs, trees and vines with kerosene lamps lighting the driveway. The temperature is 21C which slightly cooler than Bandung.

We returned to Jakarta on Wed staying at Fakhrol house at Lebak Bulus. Fakhrol had left with his family to Korea leaving the house to us. However his maid and driver is still available to attend us. We took a rest on Thur and go out shopping to Mangga 2 on Friday. We went to the local market for groceries. The wet market was clean and presentable. Stayed home on Saturday since many shops are closed due to public holiday.

We went out to Senayan Mall  and Taman Anggerik Mall on Sunday for last minute shopping. We went to Gramedia Bookstore to look for tafsir Quran which is very much cheaper compared to the ones sold in KL. Moreover there are variety of titles to look for.

Left for KL on Monday night on KLM. The flight was full. Reached home at 1.00am.
