Cambridge, Doncaster, Bradford, Yorkshire Dales, Burton, Lancaster - Day 1,2 of May 18,19

Flight booking using Air Asia was made 6 months before the trip. Managed to get RM2000 (400 GBP) for the 2 way fare.

The plane is 90% full, mostly with passengers from Australia  en route to London. We took off at 3pm. The flight took 13 hours. I spent most of my time reading and dozing off. They served 2 dishes, nasi beriyani for dinner and nasi lemak for breakfast

Me & the rented Vauxhall car

Plane landed at 10pm. The queue at the immigration was long due to many international flights landing at the same time. We rented a Vauxhall car with Budget Car rental. It costs 500 pounds for 13 days.
Standsted Airport is 1 hour away north of London. We rented a car with Budget  prebooked a month earlier.

Set Garmin GPS destination to Travelodge Cambridge which is 45 minutes away. Reached the hotel at 1 am. Prepared rice & sardines cooked in the rice cooker that we brought along for dinner. Performed maghrib & insyak prayer and retired to bed. Wake up at 4 am for subuh prayers and to bed again. Had Gardenia bread and rendang for breakfast.

Packed up for journey up north to Leeds. We had to cover almost 400km to get to the next stop at Burton at the Lake District. The route passes thro' towns of Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffields, Leeds and Bradford.

Earlier we had short tour of Cambridge town. We stop over at Tesco to get some groceries and purchased two SIM for our mobile, one for me and the other for the wife. Got a Lycomobile SIM for 1 pound each and purchased a top up for 10 pound. They gave a good rate of free call between me & the wife and 1 pence (50 sen) sms to Malaysia.

We detour to Doncaster town to shop at a Lakeside Village Factory Outlet. I bought a pair of Clark sandal.

We proceed further north towards Bradford to look for dinner set plates and continue to the Lake District where we had booked Burton Travelodge hotel as our next stop.
The room has 4 beds, 1 double, 1 settee and 1 pull out bed. All Travelodge hotel chain have the same concept.

Burton Travelodge, Lake District
On the way to Burton we stopped over at Settle, a popular mountain site of the Yorkshire Dales. We accidentally stumble upon this beautiful town when we urgently need to ease ourselves.

Reached the hotel at 8pm. It is still daylight since sun only set only at 9.30pm. Unpacked all the stuff and freshen ourselves.

We planned to have dinner at Nizam place. I had made earlier arrangement to meet him at his residence.I had met Nizam while we were working with Aktel Bangladesh. I had also brought along a bag full of Malaysian delicacies such as instant noodle, acar, keropok and other Malaysian stuffs which he had listed. We had a warm reception. Nizam works with the internal audit at our company. His wife also works in the same company. He had 6 children, a twin recently born here.
