Newcastle, Edinburgh, Perth, Glenshee - Day 5 of May 22

Next morning at 9 am we drove the fisherman wharf at North Shields which is 15 minutes away to have hot cooked fish & chips. It is a fisherman jetty and also ship port serving north UK and Europe with passenger ferry plying Newcastle and Rotterdam port.

Newcastle Harbour - having fish & chips in the car cos the weather too cold outside

Later we went to the shopping outlet. At 1pm we drop by at a car-boot sale where they  sell used household items. Hazim got a Simpson figurine at 50 pence, I got a place-mat, Humaira  a watch and the wife a crystal ware all at one pound each.
We got hungry and drove to Restaurant Nusantara again. This time we ordered only 2 plates of nasi lemak. Later we went to Kedai Haji owned by a Pakistani where they sold Asian food products. Over here they sell Milo, Maggi mee, bawang, chillies, halia, durian etc. You named it, they have it.
We got some onions, rice and cooking oil. We looked around for a laundry to wash our soiled clothes. The ones we know are all closed even though it is still 4pm. Most shops here and other parts of the country closed at 5pm unlike in Malaysia where we have eateries and shops closed late into the night. I believe it has to do with the climate where the cold weather confined them indoors most of the time.
We slept early and had most of the item packed. We need to rise early tomorrow for the hugh car-boot sale in Blaydon, 15 minutes away.

We were ready to leave the hotel at 715am. Checked out and drove to the car-boot site reaching there by 7.30am. The site opened at 7am and by the time we reached there, many people are already leaving. We managed to get what we are looking for and most items were sold under one pound.
Left for Scotland at 10pm. It rains during most of our journey. We passed by city of Edinburgh.
Forth Bridge, Edinburgh
From Edinburgh, we took the Forth Road bridge to cross over the other side of the river estuary which is part of the north sea. Beside the bridge is another bride meant for the train.

Forth train bridge, Edinburgh
Forth train bridge is solely used by the train service between Scotland & England.

We stopped over at ASDA shopping outlet in Perth to get our groceries since the next stop will be in the mountain area and we need to stock up food for dinner and breakfast.
The road to the hotel is very scenic and winding running thro streams, farms and cottages.

Reached Spittal Glenshee hotel at 5pm . The hotel sits along the mountain slope.

Glenshee from the hotel window
This place is a famous ski area. It has a stream running behind the hotel. All around are mountains. The window overlook  the mountain forming the backdrop with the farm at the nearer end with sheep running around in search of food.

We retire to bed early.
